Why not just get a bolt action?
 

Is this because of UK gun laws?

It seems to me that the Japanese Army had plenty of bolt action rifles.

Our American Troops had semi autos and full autos.

Some of the Japanese were very tough to kill, but the rest were not hiding in caves - it was no contest when a bolt action went up against an auto loader.

Look at the way military sniper teams are armed, the shooter has a bolt action rifle while the spotter, who would act as backup if necessary, carries a standard infantry weapon.

Any time you are in a situation where accuracy is paramount, only a bolt action will do.

I agree. I would much prefer a bolt action over any of those UK modified, politically correct "assault rifles". Can you imagine trying to empty a 75 rd drum by manually chambering the rifle each time? Talk about cumbersome.
